Tucson Arizona News Update

If anyone has ever lived around the Roger Road and Freeway area, then they are familiar with the Sewage Odor that quite frequently wafts over the whole area at certain times of the day.

The smell has been a source of amusement for many years for many, but has been a real problem for those that live in the  West side area.

However, Pima County Waste Management  is now apparently committed to changing our favorite smell forever and says that it might be under control by July of this year and at the latest December. Over 500 million dollars is to be spent on improving not just he sewage plant itself, but the sewer lines themselves.

Four chemical dosing units that spray controlled amounts of chlorine at key points in the sewer lines are to be installed and attention is also to be given to:

● Covers for the headworks at Roger Road, the point where the sewer lines empty into the plant.
● Covers for the clarifiers, where churning waters release odors into the air.
● A reverse air-flow system over the bio-towers that will capture the air and send it through organic filters before it drifts over the community.
